Major Achievements

Education support:

  • 135 types of supplementary reading materials prepared and distributed to the EGR students of 15 municipality of Dhanusha, Mahottari and Sarlahi district of Madhesh province in order to increase the reading skill of EGR students.
  • 15 events of EGR teaching methodology training provided to 15 primary school’s EGR teachers in order to enhance their teaching skill to EGR students and as result the teaching skills of EGR teachers has been improved and the nos. of students attending in the classroom were also increased.
  • 15 events of integrated curriculum training provided to 15 primary school’s EGR teachers to enhance their teaching skills so that they can teach as per the guideline of new curriculum.
  • Technically supported to prepare 20 local level education plan of 20 municipalities of Dhanusah, Mahottari and Sarlahi district and Facilitated 3 days long trainings on its implementation to the mayor, deputy mayor, education and sports unit officials and elected respective municipality’s members.
  • 154 people living with disabilities have been able to read and write through inclusive education program which implemented by Nagarain municipality of Dhanusha and technically facilitated and supported by RCSDC.
  • Technically supported to 20 municipality to continue the curriculum teaching through community schooling during COVID Pandemic and supported school teachers various trainings like multi grade multi learning, teaching through technology i.e. using tablets etc. along with supported them stationaries and other teaching learning materials for effective curriculum teaching in order to fulfil the learning loss due to COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Conducted series of orientation to the School management committee (SMC) and parent teacher’s orientation for their active engagement to promote accountability in community school education and facilitated 10 municipality of Dhanusha district to form the SMC with the joint coordination of respective municipality.

Promotion of renewable energy technology and increasing income level of dalit community at local level:

  • 65 portable sunflower irrigation pumps (PSSIPs) were distributed to Dalit women group members of Nagrain and Laxminiya rural municipality of Dhanusha district for sustainable irrigation and reduce carbon emission from atmosphere and as result through using the PSSIPs 3,250,000 Kg CO2 reducing yearly. Along with this the income level of the PSSIP users are also increased by saving the money approx. in average NPR.8, 000-10,000 monthly which they used to purchase the diesel for diesel pumps for irrigation.
  • 35 ltr. Diesel on average saved per month which used in the pumping set for traditional irrigation system. Which also saves more than Npr. 10,000 of 65 HHS per month and reducing carbon emission and other greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
  • Conducted more than 25 discussion and dialogue series with the community people, local and provincial government on the importance of water and renewable energy promotion especially utilization and management of waste water in urban and rural areas in order to promote renewable energy and utilization of waste water and its management.
  • Constructed and promoted more than 3500 improved cooking stoves (ICS) and 500 nos. of rocket stove to the urban and rural HHs for cooking and heating purpose in order to reduce carbon emission from the atmosphere and as result the health condition of the rural and urban women are being improved and their income level are also increased due to less use of firewood in rocket stove and ICS for cooking and their big amount of money also saved which they used to purchase big volume of firewood. They are using the saved money for the better education of their children including maintaining their health and sanitation.
  • Provide solar irrigation pumps maintenance training to more than 35 local youths in order to develop their skills and create job opportunities at local level and as result 20 youths are getting employment opportunities at local level.
  • Provide waste water management training and workshops to the local youths and organized a demonstration event on waste water management and its utilization for wider awareness and as result the local community members using the waste water for washing and irrigating purpose.
  • Organized Improved cooking stoves (ICS) construction training to the women group members in order to promote the ICS and build their capacity to construct the ICS independently. And as result 35dalit community members are getting employment opportunity at local level and earning approx. NPR.5000.00-7000.00 monthly by constructing the ICS.
  • Organized series of trainings and demonstration activities on waste management and compost production in order to support the green atmosphere and maintain sanitation in the local community and as result through the waste management organic vegetable farming are promoted in the local community.
  • Technically and socially facilitated to construct more than 125 irrigation cannel (cemented and traditional) in order to utilize waste water for sustainable irrigation.

Livelihood enhancement through Sustainable Agriculture, income generation and capacity building:

  • Organized solar irrigation pump maintenance training to local youth in order to build their capacity and create the job opportunity at local level and as result total 35 local youths are trained on solar pump repair and maintenance and earning NPR.5000 to 10,000 on average monthly through repairing and maintenance of solar irrigation pumps and other irrigation machines as well.
  • Organized series of commercial vegetable farming trainings to the women group members and supported vegetable seeds and agricultural equipment’s in a large scale for commercial vegetable farming in order to increase their income level and enhance their livelihood and as result total 65 women established the organic vegetable selling center at local market and earning NPR. 15,000 to 20,000 monthly on average.
  • Supported to establish 65 nos. of organic vegetable selling center at local and near market in order to enhance the income level of group members and as result the income level of the women group members has been significantly enhanced.
  • The nutrition level has been significantly enhanced and heath conditions are being improved of indigenous and dalit community members by regular using of organic products which supported and promoted by the project of organization.
  • Organized series of vermin compost, bio pesticide and fertilizer making trainings to the women group members in order to promote the sustainable and organic vegetable practice and as result more than 135 farmers are using only vermin compost and bio pesticide in their farm and successfully produce organic vegetables and earning NPR.3000 to 5000 through selling the vermin compost too.
  • Two tailoring shops managed by women groups has been established at local level where 19 women are getting employment opportunities and earning approximately NPR.10, 000-15,000 monthly.
  • 20 local level youths belonging from dalit community were trained on house wiring and getting regular employment opportunity at local and district level and earning approximately NPR.20, 000-30000 monthly.
  • Capacity of 135 dalit women has been enhanced on making the vermin compost and bio pesticide.
  • Capacity of 265 Dalit women has been enhanced on sustainable agriculture practice and agroforestry by receiving 6 events of trainings on sustainable agriculture and agroforestry.
  • Organized 5 events of group management and financial literacy training to the key persons of women group members and as result 105 dalit women were trained on conduction of systematic group meeting, writing of meeting minutes and decisions and properly maintaining the financial transition book for saving and loan mobilization activities.
  • 35 nos. of dalit women established micro enterprise business by taking the loan from women group and started micro enterprises i.e. retail shop of home using goods, tea shop, stall of spicy food, stall of MOMO and chowmin including goat keeping and as result they are earning approx. 15,000-20,000 monthly and enhancing their livelihoods.
  • 10 dalit youths were received 3 months motorcycle maintenance and repairing training and as result 6 youths were established a motorcycle repairing garage at local and near market and earning approx. 12,000-15,000 monthly and continue their studies too by managing all their study expenses from their own business.

Awareness and advocacy on Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR):

  • 237 adolescents and 356 dait women were educated on Gender based and domestic violence, child marriage and unsafe abortion through active participation in such trainings organized by the organization and they were also aware their family members on it including laws and policy of the government to reduce such violence and as result the sensitization level of the family members seems high on these issues and rate of child marriage and unsafe abortion has been reducing.
  • Dalit led youth networks has been established in order to promote awareness and governments responsibility on SRHR and as result through regular advocacy of the youth networks 5 respective municipality (Nagarain, Dhanauji, Laxminiya of Dhanusha district and Haripr and Basbariya of Sarlahi) were allocated budget through their annual planning to conduct training on GBV, Child marriage, legal sensitization and human rights training and Gender equality and social inclusion training.
  • Organized mobile service camps on family planning and safe abortion to the indigenous community settlements of the project area in order to provide easy access to the services to indigenous community members and as result 2759 indigenous community members were benefited from family planning schemes and 678 of the same community were benefited from safe abortion through the service camp
  • 576 nos. of students of grade 9 and 10 were get awareness on gender based violence, child marriage and sexual and reproductive health and rights through the student orientation and awareness campaign and as result all the students aware their family members too it and its legal provision.
  • 3765 women and adolescent were educated on SRHR by participating various community level sensitization orientation, workshop and trainings organized by the organization on SRHR.

Promotion of local governance:

  • Organized 22 events of local level planning process and civic responsibility training to the local elected mayors, deputy mayors, ward chairpersons and elected women members in order to build their capacity especially on planning process at local level and prioritization mechanism of the priorities and as result 22 local level followed all the steps of local level planning process and prioritized the priority as per the guideline of local level planning process and plan formulation.
  • Prepared municipal profile of 15 municipalities with the partnership of respective municipality and disseminate the profile among the respective municipalities elected bodies, government officials, stakeholders and local community members.
  • Organized Social accountability training to 25 municipality with the main participation of mayors, deputy mayors, ward chairpersons and elected ward members in order to build their capacity especially on social audit, public hearing, citizen charter publish and update and public expenditure tracking system and as result all 25 municipality conducted public hearing and public audit twice a year as per the guideline and regularly updated the citizens charter to promote the transparency and responsibility of local level.
  • Technically supported to organize social audit and public hearing to 25 municipality and along with the report preparation of the event as well.
  • Organized 15 events of training to 15 municipality on roles and responsibilities of elected members the main participation of respective municipality mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairpersons, government officials and elected Dalit women in order to promote the accountability of the elected representatives.
  • 165 youth and dalit women were educated on public expenditure tracking and civic responsibility through actively participated in training organized by RCSDC on public expenditure tracking and civic responsibility and as result they were actively engaged on public expenditure tracking activities organized by the respective municipalities.
  • 43 dalit women were participated in local level election as and candidate of dalit women member in their respective ward after actively participated in various leadership and life skill development activities organized by RCSDC and as result 21 of them were successfully won the election and now leading their respective wards as elected dalit women ward member.

Research and study

• A research on potential business opportunities at local level carried out by RSCDC and as result 109 types of potential business has been identified at rural areas of Madhesh province and the reports were submitted to the respective municipalities.
